Beautiful decay. Toxic charm. A juxtaposition of death and life. “All That Glitters” was created around the concept of covert abuse within organized religion. To an outsider looking in, a carefully crafted facade can appear vibrant, rich and full of life. Yet, beneath the sparkling flecks of gold and the fragrant floral blooms, darkness and decay permeate the soil, reminding us that all that glitters is not gold.
The acrylic underpainting is covered by rich oils, glazes and Schmincke gold oil bronze powder, creating depth, texture and a hint of poetically appropriate dissonance.
